Thank you for contacting me about the Global Citizen reception on 31 January. Unfortunately due to other commitments, I was unable to attend.
However, I have been involved in other Commonwealth Parliamentary contact in the U.K. and believe that the Commonwealth is an enormous force for good around the world, through its promotion of freedom, democracy, human rights, development and prosperity.
I am looking forward to the UK hosting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting next month, when faith leaders, civil society, business leaders and young people will come together to debate, celebrate and renew the Commonwealth. The programme will focus on building on the strengths of the Commonwealth to ensure this unique organisation is responsive to global challenges and delivers a more prosperous, secure, sustainable and fair future for all its citizens, particularly its young people.
