I was recently updated by Gatwick Airport who are undertaking upgrade work to the noise and tracking system currently provided by Casper.
The first stage of the major upgrade work will begin on the 1st April and I understand the airport have invested almost £1million into these works.
The upgrade works I am told will allow for additional complaint submission methods, such as telephone line and a mobile app. Gatwick are also planning on releasing a new noise information website, which they are hoping to have running before the start of summer. Additionally, the upgrade work will improve the flight tracking and will expand the fleet of aircraft noise monitors.
Gatwick have also informed me that they are working closely with the Noise and Tracking Monitoring Group (NaTMAG) and have commissioned independent led reviews to improve their complaints process as well as their flight performance and noise reports.
I know the upgrade work and the reviews will be important to constituents who are disturbed by aircraft noise. I look forward to seeing the start of this upgrade work and the planned new noise information website. I am pleased that this upgrade work is beginning prior to the warmer months, when there are increased incidents of aircraft noise complaints.
