Last week I visited the Horsham Refugee Support Group at one of their regular meetings. They have been doing incredibly valuable work since 2015 and it was good to speak to them about what they have been doing. Jo and the team of volunteers were able to raise with me some of the concerns they have and I have been pleased to make colleagues aware.
It was also lovely to meet one of the first Ukrainians to arrive in Horsham through the scheme, who is building a network of other Ukrainians so they can support one another as the new applicants to the Scheme arrive.
The Support Group have a very useful FAQ guide available on their website for those in the process of sponsoring someone through the Homes for Ukraine scheme, this can be found at: https://www.horshamrefugeesupportgroup.co.uk/faqs/
They are also running drop-in centres for Ukrainian’s and their hosts on:
-Mondays 10-12 Christian Life Centre
-Fridays 10-12 London Road Methodist Church
The Group currently have a team of approximately 35 people and are looking for volunteers who are speakers of Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Ukrainian and Russian. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the following address: admin@horshamrefugeesupportgroup.co.uk
