I recently joined a phone call with the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust who are, alongside the Primary Care Networks, responsible for the roll out of a potential Covid-19 vaccine in Sussex.
I was pleased to hear how they are preparing for the roll out to enable a huge number of people in Sussex to be safely vaccinated.
An important aspect of the preparations is in ensuring that there is a team of vaccinators. The Trust are actively seeking those who may already be in a clinical role and be trained to vaccinate, as well as those who would be willing to take up training to become a vaccinator. These can include non-registered healthcare professional (i.e physio support worker, healthcare assistants, phlebotomist) and those who have received Basic Life Support training (i.e cabin crew, police, lifeguards, medical students). Staff who have retired from the NHS are also being encouraged to apply.
Admin and logistics staff are also needed to help in a number of roles.
