• Patients from Billingshurst Surgery began to receive vaccinations this week at Glebe Surgery, Storrington.
• I attach below a list of key surgeries for Horsham constituents (some of which lie outside the constituency boundaries) and where their GP led vaccinations are being conducted. The full list for the county is here: https://www.sussexhealthandcare.uk/keepsussexsafe/sussex-covid-19-vacci…
• As per previous posts the prioritisation for vaccinations can be found here: https://www.sussexhealthandcare.uk/keepsussexsafe/sussex-covid-19-vacci…
• As the roll out continues we need to ramp up the means of delivery in order to achieve what are very ambitious targets. A mass vaccination hub is expected to go live in the Brighton Centre on 25th January with an initial 1,500 vaccinations a day. A second mass vaccination hub in Crawley will start at the beginning of February at the Crawley Health Centre with a 500 a day capacity, rising to 1,000 by mid-February.
• Huge effort is being put into vaccinating care homes across the county with residents over the age of 65. This is targeted for completion by the end of January.
• Some over 80s have received letters offering them the opportunity to be inoculated at the regional hub at Epsom racecourse. If this can be made to work for you that’s great but you will still be receiving a more local invitation so it is not essential to make the journey if it doesn’t. However if you do attend Epsom please do ensure you cancel any local appointment you have made in plenty of time.
• To reassure you the local centres start every inoculation day with a “standby” list. If it becomes apparent that patients are not attending new people are brought in. To date I am not aware of any wastage of vaccine locally.
• Just under 20,000 vaccines were delivered across the county last week, the vast majority being Pfizer though we hope to see more of the Oxford Astra-Zeneca vaccine as production increases. Locally due to the heroic efforts of those involved the roll-out continues to progress well, though naturally all continues to hinge on continued successful increase in vaccine production.
