The people of Israel deserve to live free from the threat of terrorism, with which they have had to cope for too long, and I know the Government shares this view.
Recent attacks here and abroad have shown that we need to respond to a new trend in the threat we face, as terrorism breeds terrorism and perpetrators are inspired to attack by copying one another in the crudest of means. The Government remains determined to work with our international partners on security co-operation in order to defeat those who resort to acts of terrorism.
I would like to assure you that the UK continues to stand with Israel on terrorism and is quick to condemn acts of terror when they occur. The Minister for the Middle East has strongly condemned the attack in Jerusalem last month and offered his condolences to the victims and their families.
