Local Transport Infrastructure

Jeremy Quin was not returned to Parliament in the General Election held on 4th July 2024. The information below is therefore historic.

Gatwick Airport is a major local employer and while I welcome the positive economic impact Gatwick has on our area, it is imperative that it works in the interest of our local communities.

Any expansion in the number of flights and passengers must also be seen in the context of the impact on noise, local road and rail infrastructure and the wider environment.

It is vital that Gatwick engages fully and collaboratively with all stakeholders and I am in regular discussions with Gatwick, local parish councils, local authorities and neighbouring MPs.

While the number of rail journeys made from local stations has diminished markedly since pre Covid I know that many constituents rely on our local rail services for both work and leisure and I am in regular contact with GTR – our local rail operator – and Network Rail about constituents’ concerns. I am determined to see improved station infrastructure between Horsham and Crawley.

Please see below for updates on local transport infrastructure.

I am very disappointed that ASLEF members will yet again take strike action on Tuesday 7th May. There will be no trains serving stations in the Horsham constituency. A very limited Southern shuttle service will operate between Gatwick Airport and London Victoria.

Jeremy Quin Speaks at Hearing on Gatwick Expansion

I appeared yesterday in front of the inquiry into the Gatwick’s expansion plans. I was allowed to speak for 8 minutes and have set out below the full transcript of my submission.

As I set out:

Jeremy Quin Meets Rail Minister

I recently met Rail Minister Huw Merriman to discuss my ongoing campaign for improved rail infrastructure between Horsham and Crawley.

Jeremy Quin Meets Aviation Minister

I met the Aviation Minister, Anthony Browne, yesterday in particular to discuss FASIS (the future airspace strategy). It is incredibly important that this is consulted on thoroughly and with an open mind.
