I have been actively following up having been contacted by several constituents in Billingshurst and the surrounding area regarding the unauthorised use of their personal addresses by limited companies with which they have no connection.
I’ve been in contact with the Minister and the Registrar as a result of which I have been informed that they are both now fully aware of the issue in Billingshurst and that the Registrar is prioritising applications from constituents. Action has already been taken against 50 entities and it is important that anyone affected continues to report issues to Companies House directly: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/report-a-company-using-your-personal-details-without-your-permission

I welcome that changes introduced by the Government last year mean the Registrar has stronger powers to remove fraudulent information from the register and can rectify address information more swiftly.
I am also pleased that measures the Government is introducing and will come into force next year will require compulsory identity verification checks for directors, persons with significant control and those filing information to Companies House.
