Today I asked my first question as Chair of the Defence Select Committee. The Prime Minister is right to work with our allies through diplomatic channels and to seek to reduce the flow of sophisticated weaponry to the Houthis. However, the international community cannot allow civilian seafarers and international trade to be targeted without response. The UK is right to take carefully targeted action in self-defence to degrade the military capabilities of those who are doing so.
