On Friday I joined my colleagues Henry Smith MP and Mims Davies MP to talk to the Institute of Directors Sussex at Mannings Heath Golf Club.
A really interesting discussion and a great forum for local businesses to get together.
The UK’s recent economic growth outpaces that of the US, Japan and France among many others. We are now the 4th biggest exporter in the world and with inflation down to 3% we can look forward to cuts in mortgage rates – hopefully soon.
A lot of the long-term factors that boost productivity and help generate the prosperity we need – not least to invest in our NHS, Defence and Schools – are underpinned by education and skills. England going back up the international league tables in Numeracy and producing some of the best Literacy stats in the Western world is really positive – as is the focus on technical skills and apprenticeships alongside degree courses at the UK’s globally highly rated Universities.
