Last week I met Inspector Durkan and Chief Inspector Davidson for an update on the action Sussex Police are taking to prevent car meets outside Kilnwood Vale.
After concerns I raised I am very pleased that Sussex Police are now treating Kilnwood Vale as a focussed hub for policing alongside other communities and villages in the District. Like Horsham more broadly, Kilnwood Vale has very low crime and that’s how we want it to stay.
I am aware that disrupting and dispersing car meets (including one very recently) takes up police time which could be better deployed elsewhere supporting the community, we need to put in place deterrence and prevention measures.
I am determined that we get speed enforcement cameras on the A264. I recently raised this with the Transport Secretary in the House of Commons – I will continue to push this case and there are powerful advocates equally keen to see them deployed.
