On Friday I joined the Conversation Starter Project in Horsham Park for their regular Friday walk.
The Project was set up to help people to make meaningful connections after the pandemic. It was great to meet Dr Tara and Shirley who have worked together to develop the Project and to combat loneliness and to empower people to improve their health. They both explained the huge benefits walking and talking in nature can have on one’s mental and physical wellbeing.
The format of the walk is very flexible. The walks take place every week without fail and attendees are not required to “book” a spot, nor are they under any obligation to attend every week. The walk is ideal for those with all levels of mobility and it was great to see a good turnout on Friday, despite the very chilly conditions!
Walks take place in Horsham Park on a Wednesday and a Friday at 10am and Midday respectively. The group meets at the entrance to the Human Nature Garden and take a gentle stroll from there.
Once a month a group meets in Southwater with the next walk taking place on the 1st April at 2pm; meeting at “Iggy” The Dinosaur in Lintott Square.
Lastly I feel very privileged to have been reselected by Horsham Conservatives as their candidate for the next General Election whenever that comes. We have been through some extraordinarily challenging times since I was first elected in 2015, not least the global Covid pandemic. However throughout I have hugely enjoyed supporting constituents. Some concerns have impacted many, including taking up issues on mental health, policing and schools. Others are very individual but I am always keen to try and help. There is something very special in the way in the U.K., unlike many countries, our Ministers deal direct with constituents through surgeries, constituency events and literally thousands of emails. I believe it leads to better Government as well as well informed representation and it is a huge honour to undertake the role.
Although the constituency boundaries are expected to change prior to the next election, with the constituency losing wards in Mid Sussex District, I continue to serve the whole Horsham constituency and as ever constituents are very welcome to contact me on jeremy.quin.mp@parliament.uk.
