HOPE (Community Cohesion)

Thank you for contacting me about community cohesion after the EU referendum.  It is incredibly important.  While few in number and anecdotal I have had brought to my attention incidents even in our local area of EU citizens being made to feel unwelcome.  This is deeply upsetting.

It is incredibly important that we bring the country together post Referendum.  The Communities Secretary has reiterated that in Britain we draw strength from differences in culture and religion. British values are founded on the principles of tolerance and respect for other people. Hateful thoughts can too easily turn into wicked acts and we must do all we can to stamp out prejudice and discrimination. There is no place for hatred in this country.

I believe that those who come to this country to contribute to society and the economy should be warmly welcomed.

I hope that this reassures and thank you again for taking the time to contact me.
