Last Friday I met with residents living on the Kilnwood Vale development who are focussed on tackling the issue of car meets and speeding on the A264.
I share their frustration about these car meets and their impact: a frustration that was all too apparent in my Kilnwood Vale Residents’ survey. There are real concerns around the safety of both those attending the meets and other road users.
Whilst the police are being very responsive to reports of car meets, indeed they broke up a small scale car meet last week before any reports were made to them, I believe prevention is far better than cure (and would release police time for other priorities).
I am continuing to push with Sussex Police and WSCC on the need for “speed traps” on the A264 which would make it a far less attractive venue for “meets”.
