With local campaigner Andrew Turner after leading yesterday’s parliamentary debate on disabled young people’s access to their Child Trust Funds. Good to have the debate in which I paid tribute to Andrew. After his son was locked out of his Child Trust Fund, he started a campaign to help all disabled young people access what is rightfully theirs.
The Minister met Andrew and me last year and subsequently steps were taken to ease the process. However much more needs to be done – we are determined to keep making progress on this.
I welcome the Minister’s commitment to look at our DWP appointee proposal as a means of making access for disabled young people practical and swift. We will continue to push to see improvements delivered.
There must be an easier way of uniting disabled youngsters with their savings and we need to prioritise their adoption.
