Today I once again visited the South East Coast Ambulance Service at their base in Crawley. I was pleased to hear from their recently appointed Chief Executive the improvements the service are making and the excellent work they are doing in hitting response time targets; particularly around category 2 calls.
I was also interested to hear about the important role volunteer Community First Responders are playing in helping those in their local communities. There are circumstances in which resuscitation delivered immediately even before the rapid arrival of a paramedic can be life saving. SECAmb are looking at ways the CFR role can be expanded to provide really positive community support. I also enjoyed seeing the control room and hearing from the teams who play a vital role in helping patients.
