Across Sussex as a whole Katy Bourne, the Conservative Candidate, topped the poll in last Thursday’s PCC elections. She was re-elected with 122,495 votes, with Labour’s Paul Richards second on 99,502, Jamie Bennett, Liberal Democrat, on 48,923 and Jonathan Kent, for the Green Party, polling 43,105, on a turnout of 24.2%.
The result is declared by individual Districts across Sussex. In Horsham District the percentage shares of the vote for this PCC election (compared to first preference votes received in 2021) were:
Katy Bourne (Conservative) 48% (52%),
Jamie Bennet (Liberal Democrat) 22% (20%),
Paul Richards (Labour) 20% (12%)
Jonathan Kent (Green) 10% (10%)
(There was also an Independent in 2021 with 6% of the vote)
Horsham MP, Jeremy Quin commented:
“I am absolutely delighted that Katy has been re-elected as the PCC. She has been extremely positive and forward leaning on policing in Horsham itself and the wider District and I am glad this was reflected in the strong result she received locally.
"With Crime falling nationally, Horsham reported to be one of the 20 areas in the country with the least amount of violent crime and 679 additional Sussex police officers I believe we can continue to make real progress.”
