Last week a national study carried out by Get Licenced ranked Horsham in the top 20 of areas with the least amount of violence nationally.
This is great news but we want to ensure we retain our fair share of police resources to help maintain and enhance our position.
At the start of last year there was a worrying sense that our area, in particular Horsham town centre, was becoming less safe.
We requested and received more police alongside effective new approaches for preventing and tackling crime. This includes the establishment of the Horsham Town Team which gives the town centre its own dedicated policing and the roll-out of the DISC app amongst local businesses and licenced venues.
I know our local police team will continue to stay on top of concerns and I have seen in recent weeks that they have been asking on their Facebook page (Horsham Police) for residents to share with them any areas they should be prioritising for patrols in order to provide reassurance. We need to continue to work together to ensure our area continues to be the great place to live and work.
