I know Results Day can be a really daunting day for young people (and their parents!).
This year:
91% of UK 18 year old university applicants achieved their first or insurance choice,
27.2% of A level entries are A or higher, more than in 2019,
90.5% of T Level students passed.
To everyone who secured their place at university today, congratulations!
For those who didn’t get the results they were expecting, don’t worry. There is lots of advice out there:
Talk to your school or college about your results and discuss your options,
Talk to your friends and family who can be a source of support,
Talk to a professional careers adviser for free and get judgement free, confidential information and advice via the National Careers Service Exam Results helpline via phone of webchat: https://nationalcareers.service.gov.uk/.../exam-results
We also have the excellent team at i-Rock Horsham District who can provide support with education and employment.
There are a number of options available to you, regardless of your results:
Your preferred university or college may still offer you a place,
There are great options available through clearing,
If you’re unhappy with your results you can resit.
An alternative to a traditional degree is Higher Technical Qualifications which are job focussed qualifications which provide the skills employers are looking for. HTQs include Higher National Certificates, Higher National Diplomas, Certificates of Higher Education and Foundation Degrees. HTQs can provide a direct route into employment as well as further study.
Additionally, there are now more than 670 defined high quality apprenticeships in a wide range of roles. These include high level apprenticeships in nursing, engineering, law and science. More information can be found on the following website: https://www.apprenticeships.gov.uk/.../browse...
Whatever your results there are lots of options available; grades are not always the most important thing and employers look for a wide range of skills and qualifications.
