This week is ‘Loneliness Awareness Week’. There are several organisations and charities locally that help tackle loneliness:
- Horsham District Befriends support people who are feeling lonely or isolated by matching them with a “Volunteer Befriender”. More information can be found here
- Age UK run a range of sessions for older people that help social connections, such as “Chatty Crochet”. More information can be found here
- The “Conversation Starter” Project runs “Walk and Talk” sessions in local parks where people can connect through walking. More information can be found here
- Samaritans have some practical suggestions that might be useful to those feeling lonely, details of which can be found here
