Last week I spoke to CityFibre who I am pleased to hear are getting on with the task having been awarded the Project Gigabit contract to bring gigabit-capable broadband to hard-to-reach premises in Sussex. This will include up to 6,800 premises in the Horsham constituency, with construction due to start on the first phase - covering at least a third of premises – in the beginning of next year.
This is great news and I look forward to faster and more reliable connectivity being enjoyed by many of our rural homes and businesses. Where their plans for Q1 2025 exclude premises where it would be logical for them to be linked and processed now (examples include areas in Kilnwood Vale, Colgate and Copthorne) I have written to Building Digital UK pushing them for inclusion. While I want to maximise reach asap I am glad this is underway.
