Today marks "Restart a Heart Day”. Every year organisations come together to increase public awareness of cardiac arrests and the number of people trained in lifesaving CPR and defibrillation.
We are very fortunate to have Community First Responders in many of our villages who are able to quickly attend medical emergencies, including those needing CPR. You can find out more about becoming a volunteer CFR here.
We are also very fortunate that Horsham and many of our villages have defibrillators accessible in an emergency. Below is just a selection of some of these defibrillators; there are many more and it is worthwhile local residents familiarising themselves with their nearest defibrillators: https://www.defibfinder.uk/
Last month the Department for Health and Social Care launched a fund for community organisations to apply for grant funding for defibrillators. The fund will provide at least 1,000 new defibrillators for community spaces across England.
