I have received the following from the EA and wanted to share it immediately:
Dear Mr Quin
We have issued a Flood Warning for Ifield Brook and the River Mole at Ifield and Lowfield Heath in response to the river level rising in the Ifield Brook this morning. Flood Warnings mean there is a risk to land and property and immediate action is required. Flooding is expected to affect properties around Rusper Road and Hyde Drive in Ifield, with flooding to low lying land and roads also anticipated elsewhere in the area.
Our staff are out checking trash screens, clearing river blockages and ensuring that, wherever possible, rivers and streams are flowing freely. We are also sending out staff to speak to residents and investigate the flooding impacts. Our incident room remains open as further rain is forecast for this afternoon through tonight, which may increase river levels, causing flooding to continue until the showers clear.
If any of your constituents are affected by flooding please encourage them to contact our free 24 hour incident hotline on 0800 80 70 60.
For all other queries regarding flooding and to sign up to receive free Flood Warnings please encourage them to call Floodline on 0345 988 1188. They can also check our website for current Flood Alerts and Warnings or follow @EnvAgencySE and #floodaware on Twitter for the latest flood outlook.
