Just to remind everyone that from next week, SGN will be carrying out essential gas network upgrades on Worthing Road from the junction of Blackbridge Lane to the Sainsburys roundabout. The work is expected to last for 12-13 weeks.
No one will need reminding that this is a busy road and these roadworks will be very frustrating. They are part of SGN’s 30-year upgrade programme and I am told absolutely essential to maintain a gas supply that is resilient and safe.
I contacted SGN to ask for reassurance that the work will be resourced to ensure it is completed as swiftly and as effectively as possible and that they will facilitate any third parties that need to add infrastructure so that we can hopefully prevent a repetition any time soon. SGN informed me that they are arranging to work extended hours and they been in touch with WSCC to see if they can work collaboratively with any other utilities.
I have separately contacted WSCC to ensure that they have done their utmost to mitigate the impact these works will have on local residents, bus services and those travelling into Horsham.
