Knepp Wilding is a pioneering 3,500 acre rewilding project which attracts visitors from all over the UK and Europe. The team at Knepp run over 1,000 African-style safaris a year and visitors are able to see some of the rarest species in Britain including nightingales, turtle doves and purple emperors.
In 2022, Knepp’s white stork reintroduction project saw the first white storks to be fleded in the UK for over 600 years. This year, Knepp expects to have at least 12 nests, mostly in the top of the oak trees. I am told the storks are bill-clattering, pair-bonding and home-making at the moment!
In the late Summer, the Wilding Café and Shop will open, featuring free-roaming, organic meat from the estate and organic vegetables from Knepp’s Market Garden.
Not only is rewilding having a positive effect on nature, it is also bringing nature friendly jobs into our economy.
