We have been clear, all communities must be able to live their lives free from fear of verbal or physical attack. Freedom of Religion or Belief is fundamental to a successful society. It builds resilience against the prejudice, discrimination and persecution that not only prevents a society from achieving its full economic potential but also leaves it vulnerable to extremism.
We strongly condemn the persecution of Christians and other minorities on the basis of their religion or belief or ethnicity; the burning of churches and branding of homes is reprehensible, as is the destruction of mosques and desecration of holy sites.
