I visited the Horsham Samaritans and as ever I found it a really positive experience. Last year their local volunteers undertook nearly 120,000 hours of support for people in need around the country. They are keen to emphasise that they are there for anyone who needs that all important human contact - its not just for emergencies - and they are keen to listen and to help. New volunteers for this hugely important work are always welcome: either on the phones (for which extensive training is provided) or in the many other roles from IT to fund raising that ensure the team continues to provide this lifeline.
