As many constituents will be aware, the RMT union has announced three days of national strike action this Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday across Network Rail and 13 train operating companies.
Although RMT members at Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) voted for ‘action short of a strike’, the strike action includes partners on whom GTR’s operations rely.
Services at Billingshurst, Christ’s Hospital, Faygate, Horsham, Littlehaven and Warnham stations cannot operate during the strike action. Services at Balcombe will be reduced to two trains per hour in either direction on strike days.
Planned industrial action will reduce the service on ‘non-strike’ days (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) because signallers and control staff will not work overnight shifts that begin on the strike days. GTR plans to operate a Sunday-style service from approximately 7:15am on these days.
GTR advises customers to travel only where necessary, and if customers do travel, to expect severe disruption and plan ahead. Up to date travel information is available here: https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/.
