Supporting Our Local Economy

Many people live in Horsham and work further afield but it is vital that Horsham remains a thriving economic centre in its own right, as it has been for hundreds of years.

We are lucky to have a thriving High Street in Horsham Town Centre as well as a diverse range of businesses – from flourishing local drinks producers to significant manufacturing and service companies – based in the surrounding villages. I regularly meet with local business owners to discuss their future plans and the impact they are having on the local and national economy.

I often attend employment events and I am always keen to discuss the benefits of different employment options, such as apprenticeships and graduate schemes. I routinely visit the team at the Job Centre Plus to find out how they are supporting people in their journey into employment.

I am fully aware of the importance a strong local economy has on the local community and I will continue to support local businesses in the area.

News

Royal Mail Update

I know many constituents have been frustrated by delays to Royal Mail postal deliveries and I revisited the Horsham Delivery Office last week for an update on progress they have made on recruitment.

Jeremy Quin Welcomes Good News on Inflation

Some very good news today on inflation running at less than a third of what it was at its peak and forecast to return to the Bank of England’s two per cent target within months.

Budget Tax Cuts

I personally lobbied the Chancellor pre Budget on SEND and wider support for mainstream education.  I am pleased that as part of the Budget a new Alternative Provision School has been approved for West Sussex.

English Tourism Week

“English Tourism Week” will take place 15th to 24th March and it’s a great opportunity to celebrate the wonderful tourist sites and attractions in our area. This year I am asking constituents to let me know which local attraction they would recommend for someone out of the region to visit.

Jeremy Quin Visits The Drinks Company

I recently visited The Drinks Company in Horsham. Drinks Co have been distributing spirits to leading supermarkets and On Trade establishments for 27 years and has deep Horsham routes.  It was great to learn more about the business and the unique products they deliver.

Royal Mail Update

Senior representatives from the Royal Mail recently briefed Sussex MPs on progress being made with delays to deliveries many constituents are experiencing locally. Royal Mail reported that they are now hitting 93% of delivery points in Sussex, up from 86% last October to December.

Jeremy Quin Visits Huxley's

It was great to visit Huxley's Birds of Prey Centre last week and learn about their vast array of birds (and meerkats!) which includes this magnificent white tail sea eagle called Kali. It was fascinating to hear about these extraordinary birds and associated conservation efforts.

Jeremy Quin Visits Weston's Farm

Touching base early this morning with David Exwood at Weston’s Farm in advance of the NFU Conference later this week. David recently hosted the DEFRA Secretary and I really value his insight as Vice President of the NFU and a real champion for farming that is both sustainable and productive.

Good News on Inflation

Good news on inflation which is at 4%, helped by the biggest fall in food inflation for 2 years.  This is despite taxpayer support for energy bills (which reached £3,700 for the average household) being reduced.  There remain risks – however the inflation-reduction plan is working.  This is good
