Our Local NHS

We all want to be able to easily access our local NHS resources- whether that be appointments with GPs, check ups with dentists or treatment at hospital.

Many residents want to see an A&E hospital closer to Horsham and this is something for which I push at every available opportunity. Until we can secure a new local hospital we want to see investment in our existing hospitals; including having more outpatient appointments at Horsham Hospital.

Across Sussex, 3 million more GP appointments are being offered now than before the pandemic. Despite this increase, I know people’s experience of getting a GP appointment varies from surgery to surgery. I am keen to see best practice shared amongst the surgeries which includes taking on a multidisciplinary team to support GPs and improve patient care.

Please see below updates on our local NHS.

Jeremy Quin Asks Question on Access to Pharmacies

Update on Lobular Breast Cancer Campaign

Last week was really positive news on lobular and I was delighted to welcome it today in the House. The next step is getting it practically delivered and Dr Michaelis and I will be meeting the Health Minister shortly to discuss next steps on delivery.

Success for Local Campaigners on Lobular Breast Cancer

Horsham resident Dr Susan Michaelis who has been spearheading the campaign for better awareness and research into lobular breast cancer received a major boost for her "Lobular Moonshot Campaign" this week in a speech from the Health Secretary, Victoria Atkins.

Update on Lobular Breast Cancer Campaign

The Health Secretary in a speech today has specifically raised the issue of lobular breast cancer which accounts for 15% of breast cancers and has stated that she will be encouraging research into this dreadful disease.

Brew Monday

Today is "Brew Monday" a day where the Samaritans remind everyone to reach out for a cuppa and a catch-up.

The 15th January is sometimes referred to as the "most difficult day of the year" and it's important that we reach out and connect.
