Our Local NHS

Jeremy Quin was not returned to Parliament in the General Election held on 4th July 2024. The information below is therefore historic.

We all want to be able to easily access our local NHS resources- whether that be appointments with GPs, check ups with dentists or treatment at hospital.

Many residents want to see an A&E hospital closer to Horsham and this is something for which I push at every available opportunity. Until we can secure a new local hospital we want to see investment in our existing hospitals; including having more outpatient appointments at Horsham Hospital.

Across Sussex, 3 million more GP appointments are being offered now than before the pandemic. Despite this increase, I know people’s experience of getting a GP appointment varies from surgery to surgery. I am keen to see best practice shared amongst the surgeries which includes taking on a multidisciplinary team to support GPs and improve patient care.

Please see below updates on our local NHS.

Pharmacy Update

I continue to be very focussed on local Pharmacy services and how they can be improved. The majority of concerns raised with me relate to a small number of specific pharmacies.

Menopause Events to be Held in Horsham

On Thursday 22nd February two Menopause help sessions are being held in Horsham. Details for both can be found on the posters above and by booking a spot using the links below. I am aware of this project from discussions with Orchard Surgery.

World Cancer Day 2024

Today marks World Cancer Day; a day for the world to unite and raise awareness. We all sadly know either family members or good friends who have been affected by cancer.

Earlier in the week I visited a drop in event being held in Parliament by Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Investing in the NHS

This week it was announced that for those who are comfortable using the NHS App to collect medication the NHS will be replacing paper prescriptions with an app delivered barcode.  This further advance (a step forward from ordering repeat prescriptions on-line) will save GP and patients’ time.&n

Jeremy Quin Asks Question on Access to Pharmacies

This morning the Government announced Pharmacy First. This is a really positive step forward enabling patients with a variety of specific and common conditions that can easily be treated by antibiotics to secure them direct from pharmacies rather than having to go via their GP.

Celebrating Progress on Lobular Research

Prime Ministers Questions fulfils a vital function (and I was delighted to use it for our Lobular Breast Cancer Campaign!) but it is also in many ways the worst advert for parliament!  The weekly skirmish is inevitably the most excitable and “high octane” of the week.  In my experience th

Update on Lobular Breast Cancer Campaign

Last week was really positive news on lobular and I was delighted to welcome it today in the House. The next step is getting it practically delivered and Dr Michaelis and I will be meeting the Health Minister shortly to discuss next steps on delivery.
